What’s happening in my studio?
A quick greeting this week from my very messy studio in Birsay! As you can see, things are busy and a bit congested in here right now as I prepare for two upcoming shows.

I’m making new work for an exhibition at the Birch Tree Gallery in Edinburgh from March 25th, so do come along if you are in or near Edinburgh. I’ll be in town to do an artist talk at some point during the run of the exhibition. I don’t have a date yet, but I’ll let you know when that happens – do come and say hello if you can!

I am also showing a group of prints and drawings at the Orkney Innovation and Research Campus (ORIC) in Stromness, alongside fellow Orkney artist and good friend Anne Bevan. With ORIC’s focus on research into renewable energy and particularly harnessing the power of the sea, tides and weather it’s an appropriate location to show work that’s all about the movement of water. So I’m really pleased to be installing some of my artwork in the new campus buildings and to opening up conversations with researchers there over the next months. All those boxes stored in the rafters of my studio contain a big multi-section drawing that I’m looking forward to seeing again when it’s installed next week. I’ll be sure to take some photos of it in situ.

I’ll put the word out when it’s all up. If you are in Orkney the work will be on the walls for at least the next six months, maybe even longer, so there will be plenty of time to swing by. The building is open to the public, so do pop in if you want to witness the beating heart of Orkney’s burgeoning renewal energy sector!

Well, that’s it from me this week. Time to get back to the drawing board!
